David Gauger is a dedicated candidate running for Trustee in the Village of Fox Lake’s April 1, 2025, election. David is proud to run alongside incumbents Donny Schmit, Bernice Konwent, and Jeff Jensen. Leadership and Experience

David has served as Chairman of the Fox Lake Planning Commission for 19 years, gaining invaluable knowledge and experience in local government. Many of Fox Lake’s trustees began their service on the Planning Commission, making it an ideal stepping stone to the Village Board. If elected, David will step down from his current role, confident that his successor will continue the Commission’s important work.

Personal Background

David has been a resident of Fox Lake for 26 years and has been happily married to his wife, Kate, for 19 years. With 50 years of experience in the foodservice industry, David recently retired and is now embarking on a new journey as a small business owner with a newly opened commercial building in Fox Lake. His long-standing commitment to the community reflects his deep investment in its growth and prosperity.

David’s professional and leadership experience includes:

  • 19 Years as Chairman of the Fox Lake Planning Commission.
  • 25 Years as Vice President and working partner in an Illinois-based contract food service company, overseeing:
    • Human Resources for 1,000 employees.
    • $15 million in annual purchasing.
    • Fleet management and benefits administration.
    • Fiduciary responsibility for a 401(k) program.
    • Long- and short-term planning.
    • Client and vendor relations.
    • USDA regulatory compliance.
  • 15 Years as President of the Carriage Homes of Fox Ridge HOA (46 buildings, 184 units in Fox Lake)
  • 10 Years as an adjunct faculty member teaching college culinary classes.

Community Involvement

David has been an active contributor to the Fox Lake community for over a decade, including:

  • Cooking for annual events such as the Mayor’s Fish Fry, Grant Township Field of Dreams fundraisers, and the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast.
  • Donating “Dinners by Dave” for Venetian Night fundraisers and Chamber of Commerce events.
  • Participating in “Fox Lake Cares” Thanksgiving meal giveaways.
